Why Remove the Navigation Menu?
A navigation menu is essential for navigating a multi-page website, but for single-page layouts, such as landing pages, it can be distracting. Removing the menu simplifies your page, directing visitors’ attention solely to your content or call-to-action without unnecessary distractions.
Step-by-Step Guide to Removing the Navigation Menu:
Access Your Squarespace Dashboard: Start by logging into your Squarespace account and navigating to the backend of your site where you manage your content and settings.
Navigate to Pages Section: Once you're in the dashboard, go to the "Pages" section. This area shows all the pages your website currently has.
Adjust the Navigation Settings: Find the "Main Navigation" section which lists all the pages that appear in your navigation menu. To remove a page from the navigation menu, simply click and drag it into the "Not Linked" section. This area is typically below the main navigation settings.
Confirm the Changes: After moving the pages to the "Not Linked" section, the changes should be immediate. Navigate to your live website to ensure that the navigation menu does not appear anymore.
Once you've completed these steps, your site will display without the top navigation menu, offering a sleeker and more streamlined look. This is especially effective for landing pages where you want to minimize distractions and focus the visitor’s attention on specific content or actions.
